Nancy French (1) (1974–)

I found this book somewhat difficult to read because of the conflicting religious and political views I have with the authors. David and Nancy are both very religious and very conservative. There was an air of superiority in both of their tones that got on my nerves. Nonetheless, I was looking for a story to connect with about other military families and how they handled deployments. David is a "new soldier" and at times his endless complaining is annoying. I am part of a military family, and understand the tough situations and conditions soldiers are put in. Still, David comes off sounding like a whining rich kid. Though I don't share her politics or religious views, I could relate to Nancy as a fellow military wife. Her stories are truthful, witty, and familiar. Despite my overall unhappiness with the book, I am glad that their story - any story - is being told and illuminating the realities of war as it pertains to soldiers and families for the American public.… (mais)
