This was such a charming read. Set during the 1800's, this novel starts out with the Dead Letter Office and the main character, Penny. Penny was a sweet girl and a hopeless romantic that is uncommon to find in books. She takes it upon herself to reunite Thomas and Clara. Her journey takes her to the town where Thomas lives, Azure Springs. Once there, she met Margret, who was such a scheming, fun character. Penny learns important lessons about herself and others and changes greatly as a character.
The characters of this novel were done well. Fordham really made them three-dimensional characters with emotions and personalities of their own. Penny's dog, Honey, also added a sense of reality to the story while also giving the reader a reason to laugh.
Although this book is set in the same town as Fordham's prior novel, Yours Truly, Thomas, can be read as a standalone.
I will be looking forward to reading more of Fordham's works in the future.

Although it didn’t suck me into the story completely, it was interesting and unique. The ending was beautiful.

A beautiful story of letters, pain, loss, forgiveness and finding true love worth the wait.

Negative Content:

The only thing that I found that would have been better left out was...
Penny asked her married best friend what it was like to be married to a man.
And her friend said that she would be glad to whisper to her what it was like to be married to a man, but she didn't wish to discuss her romance and private matters in letters that might fall into the wrong hands, basically.
Nothing was discussed on-page, but you knew what they meant.
I thought it was unnecessary and honestly inappropriate.

Marriage is God-designed and normal, but it's meant to be kept private between the husband and wife, because it's special.
It's not supposed to be everyone else's business, even if they are a close friend.

Other than this I loved the book!!
I just fixed what little there was with a small dash of white-out, but the rest of the book is squeaky- clean. ✨☺
