Hmm...another review of a book that I don't have strong feelings about. I mean, I didn't like it a lot nor did I hate it.
First off, I liked the message of trusting in God. That is something that is lacking in Christian novels lately and this was a nice change.
The main problem I had with this book was the characters. For much of the novel, they acted like little kids. Josh and Maggie were so stubborn and refused to talk to each other like mature adults.
The second thing I had with this book was the ending. For me, it was unrealistic. Without any spoilers, Maggie and Josh just came to agree on the issues that they had been disagreeing on out of the blue. I wanted to know how they planned to resolve the lingering effects of the opposing viewpoints.
Just a little disclaimer, this book dealed with the aftereffects of Hurricane Katerina and that didn't resonate with me because I was too young to remember it. I think those who remember that time will enjoy this a lot more than I did.

A cute cover, interesting blurb, and a new to me author all drew me to read Star Rising.
I'm glad I did, it was a nice book, with a lot of depth, good content, and a wonderful message of forgiveness, redemption, and God's love.

I enjoyed reading about the traveling the characters did, the descriptions were spot on, the story development was well written, and in all it was like a was much like a Hallmark movie, but more serious, sweeter, and redemption filled.

With Star Rising being the first book I've read by Janet Fergurson I look forward to reading more of her books as soon as I'm not so busy with blogging, and life.

At times I did not like reading Paul's point of view but it grew on me as the story went on.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

You don’t have to read too far into my reviews to discover how much I love a good friends-to-more romance. Well, let me tell you, Janet W. Ferguson has raised the bar on this trope with Holding on to Hope.

First there’s Caleb. Sweet, endearing, heartsick Caleb who isn’t blind to Hope’s faults and desires the best for her even if that best causes his heart pains worse than his scars. And Hope adds a brightness to Caleb’s melancholy.

Ferguson expertly balances the heavy parts in this story with some wild, laugh-out-loud moments throughout the book. But at the heart is the truth of how God loves us—perfectly despite our sins and our scars. He sees past our skin and masks to the heart.

Holding on to Hope is a story I will be coming back to again and again because I am a superfan of this couple.

Disclosure statement: I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to write a positive or negative review. All opinions are my own.
