Autobiographical account of his trial against the organization which was running AFTRA in the fifties, as part of the McCarthy era communist hunting. The acting profession was hard hit by accusations of various affiliations, and many people were forced out of work by a blacklist which the creators and users claimed did not exist. When Faulk, then a successful radio personality, became an officer of AFTRA on a Middle of the Road ticket, he was smeared in a series of letters, calls, and handouts from AWARE, a small organization claiming to name names. Faulk sued AWARE, Louis Nizer and his firm represented him, and this is story of how a man from Texas fought back for six years to regain his name. This is a fascinating time capsule of the period, the man, and the politics.… (mais)
