I was initially attracted to this book because of the link to the Yorkshire Ripper case. Set in 2000, DI Colin Strong is investigating a case which makes him think he might have found Wearside Jack, the hoaxer who sent West Yorkshire Police down the wrong track when they were trying to find the Ripper. He also finds a case of what appear to be trophies, taken after assaults on women and he has to try and find out who the case belongs to.

This is a good, well-written crime novel. I must admit I kept getting confused with all the criminals in the interlinked cases that Strong is investigating, but it's an interesting storyline and I liked that fact and fiction was combined. As I live in Sheffield, I was pleased to find that the city is referred to quite a bit. There are lots of twists and turns to the story which kept me turning the pages. It's an excellent start to a new crime series.… (mais)
