Karen Eisenbrey

If you're looking for a strong female protagonist, there's a dandy one in this book and she's surrounded by a very diverse cast of characters. Some are very supportive, others derisive of her determination to become the first female wizard. Reading along as she copes with these and other challenges, while finding strength to be her own person, makes for a very satisfying book.
