Resenhas

Interesting historic details, but the storytelling felt somewhat lacking and the frequent references to events that happened in the previous book felt a little awkward. Wanted more in-depth character development.

Content Considerations:

Description of previous experience with torture, frostbite near-amputation, physical description of character shot in face.

3.5 stars. The story of a young boy who helps his father, a cook in a logging camp kitchen. The cabin we visit yearly in Northern Minnesota is on the site of a former logging camp. So, I thought my kids might enjoy reading this book.

This adventurous story follows a young boy who is going on his first voyage in place of his father. He encounters many hardships such as the physical toll being a voyageur has on your body and mind, mean crew mates, and grief. But he also grows and finds out more about himself than he ever thought possible along the way. Join Pierre for the journey of a lifetime.
