I thought this was a rather strange book. The author seems to be quite competent in both philosophy and history but she's completely unable to bring these two subjects together in a meaningful way. She tries, in about 10 short pages, to present a sociolinguistic model of epistemic justification, but even there I struggled to understand what the epistemological purpose of her model is. The great majority of the book consists of reviews of selected studies in sociolinguistics. Here the link to epistemology is completely nonexistent. I find it very strange that she claims to be showing how sociolinguistics can be of use in naturalized epistemology when she's actually only writing a literature review of recent sociolinguistic work.… (mais)
