BMW Motorcycles: 100 Years, by Alan Dowds, is a fascinating look at the motorcycle part of BMW history, though admittedly it is entwined with the aviation and automobile history as well.

I recently read The BMW Century by Tony Lewin, which focused on the history of the company as a whole and it was a great read. While there is a little overlap with this volume, I thoroughly enjoyed having a book dedicated to the development of the motorcycles over this span.

I haven't owned a motorcycle since the early 80s, an accident made me wary, but never lost my love of them. History is an interest of mine, so that part of this book was great, but I admit I was particularly taken with the photographs. From the look of the older models through to today's amazing bikes, I loved visually tracing those changes.

I would recommend this to both motorcycle lovers and BMW fans alike. Whether you're really wanting to read the history or just look at all the pictures, you'll enjoy this book.

Got this on deep deep discount at a large chain bookseller. Editing is poor, even for my standards, but if you treat it like a cheap archive of significant bikes of the past 15 years, it was worth the twelve bucks!
