I freely chose to review this ARC and I was hooked from the very first chapter! Someone has killed twenty-one people, a human trafficker gets off as it is suspected that there's a mole in London's National Crime Agency warning him, and with the death of a junior member Chief Superintendent Brain Knightly suspects a dirty cop in his organization, and with DS Cryer's eidetic memory he is perfect for the undercover assignment in London even with his recuperating leg wound no one would suspect that he's a smart cookie after DCI Jones's friend tweaked his personnel file.

Philip Cryer had been injured on the job when he fell through a rotten roof as he chased a bad guy and he drove his wife loopy as he wanted to go back to work but he leg hadn't healed yet. When the big man can to his home out of the blue he suspected something was up then he find out his bosses had set him up with a assignment they knew he couldn't pass up!

On Lucky Shores: A Chet Walker Adventure by Kerry J. Donovan is a riveting book. I gave it five stars.

I purchased a kindle copy & read it overnight. Then I had a serious book hangover.

Chet Walker is the protagonist. He's a wandering song writer & guitar player on his way to Lucky Shores where they were supposed to have an open mike night where he hoped to get a job.

"He had no plan but to keep running from his own life...The niggling twinge in his left calf had worsened during the day & reminded him of the injury. Not that he needed a prompt--the ugly a$$ed scar & the recurring ache were more than enough...The words of his college wrestling coach floated into his head. 'Pain is your friend, Walker...use it to focus your mind.'"

He witnessed a car accident & the dying man told him not to trust anyone in Lucky Shores.
I have now placed all of this author's books on my wish list.

Sean Freeman (DCI Jones Casebook #3) by Kerry J Donovan

In the third installment of the DCI Jones Casebook series, Detective David Jones faces a difficult case with a cunning jewel, thief Sean Freeman (He has never been caught). Freeman's boss forces him to break into the Stafford Museum, which puts him is in the heart of Jones' jurisdiction. Jones is determined to be the one to catch Freeman. Freeman is determined not to be caught. Who will win?

A well written thrilling story. I really Like DCI Jones, he has a style of his own. I also like his partner Phil Cryer, they make an awesome pair. And (this does not happen often) but I do like Sean Freenman as well. He is cunning , sly and very good at what he does. Sean Freeman may be the one that Jones may not be able to catch.

There is action, mystery, thrills and drama all wrapped neatly into a perfect read. I liked the originality of the plot, the characters are well formed and the story moves at an even pace, and keeps you wanting more. I strongly recommend Sean Freeman to those who love a great detective story.

I also recommended the first two in the DCI Jones series; Raymond Collins & Ellis Flynn.

The DCI Jones Casebook: Ellis Flynn by Kerry J. Donovan

Set in England and France, DCI David Jones and his partner Alex Olganski are on a case to find a missing girl Hollie Jardine. It becomes a race against the clock as Jones and Alex go to France to find her. What they discover in France is horrifying and unspeakable. DCI Jones has to face many challenges and puts his life on the line to save Hollie.

DCI Jones, is a unique individual, but very likable. Alex is a devoted Swedish woman. She is strong physically and emotionally. I like that in a female character. Young Hollie is likable as well. We watch as one bad choice puts her in danger, and those trying to save her.

A well written story. We get to see what each person is thinking and how they feel. The drama is "edge-of-your-seat" intestine. The setting in England and France adds spice to the story.

A fantastic story that kept me up late into the night. I highly recommend The DCI Jones Casebook: Ellis Flynn The DCI Jones Casebook: Ellis Flynn to murder/mystery/suspense lovers. Also recommend the fist (short) story that introduces us to the main characters, The DCI Jones Casebook: Raymond Francis Collins
