A book about some of the bleak histories of Amsterdam North, were a lot of people were very poor. The author lived as a small boy in Amsterdam-Noord and rembembers his young life there. He left the neighbourhood to study sociology in Amsterdam and became a journalist and writer. The book contains also an interesting history about the shipping industry that went down totally. Very sad really. Positive is that he sees a new optimistic future for the IJ-oever.
