This book has left me confused and mad all at the same time. I can't believe that Cassidy put up with everything she did at her mom's house, and then again with Seth!

And really, the girl is 18, says so quiet a few times in the book, how is it that she has to ask permission to go anywhere, or to live with her dad? Just because she is still in school? Nope, or at least not in any state that I have lived in.

Her mom's verbal and mental abuse was almost enough to make me stop reading, as I really don't like books that focus on things like this, then add in the abuse from her stepfather and I had to force myself to keep reading.

I did however take a break from the book when it came about that Seth, the one I was rooting for, turns out to be even more abusive than both the mother and stepfather. And Cassidy kept going back to him! Gah, I need a sweet love story now!

--Read my full review of the book at! Spoiler Free!

This book has everything that I feel define New Adult reads. It has a cute romance with flawed characters that somehow find and complete each other. Add a dash of heat and the bad boy hero and there you have it in one neat package.

Except that this book went down a path I think this genre often neglects: which is when the relationship passes the border of unhealthy and how the characters deal with it.

As much as I love the New Adult genre (and I've said this before) I sometimes worry about readers getting the impression that these dramatic relationships are the everyday norm and it is completely healthy--because it really isn't.

Which is why I liked this book because it actually tackled the issue about what a healthy relationship is and I really appreciated that it went in that direction. Not a lot of books do or would in this genre so I thought it was very refreshing that it did this in a realistic way.

So.....hmmmmm...well.....I just don't know what to say.

This review has spoilers......

First of all I would give this overall book 2.5 stars.

I just don't get it, I read it but I don't get it..

Here's the rundown:

Cassidy (a high school senior) has a verbally abusive and very lazy mother, she is also getting felt up by her stepdad at the same time. She has to care for her 8 year old half brother because her lazy mother would not. She dyed her hair black and turned herself into a goth chick, because she thinks will stop Step-dad's advances. She gets fed up, pulls a stunt and is sent to Colorado to live with her dad and Step mom. They are the nicest sweetest people in the world. Her dad hooks her up with a guy from a local burger shop, Seth. Seth turns out to be Satan and instead of leaving a bad situation for a better one, she finds herself in a physically and verbally abusive relationship. She hides this from her parents and continues to see Seth and her parents encourage the relationship and the sex the two of them are having. The only thing that made her break it off was she found out he was cheating on her and she leaves him. The end...

It was written well, I just didn't like how the abuse was handled and swept under the rug, and her last straw was the cheating and not him choking and slapping her.....

I just didn't really care for this one and it left me feeling like this..
