When the Winchesters hear rumors of strange occurrences in South Dakota, they show up and find Don, an obnoxious Hawaiian shirt wearing angel, who has lured them. Don wants Dean and Sam to find one of the Dead Sea Scrolls that is going up for auction, then sends them to where the auction is about to happen- the Waldorf in NYC, 1954. Dean and Sam not only have to find the scroll, but fend off demons, including one of Satan's wives. And Dean finds a smart and pretty girl who seems to be as good a con artist as he is.… (mais)

This Supernatural tie-in book, set in the year between the events of seasons five and six, was just dreadful. The characterization was off, the plot was ho-hum, there was a lot of uninteresting backstory told in flashbacks which may or may not have been journal entries (?), and other than a brief section at the beginning, the story really doesn't add anything to our understanding of a pretty important bit of time in the lives of the Winchester brothers.

Title: War of the Sons Series: Supernatural Author: David Reed & Rebecca Dessertine Rating: 2.5 of 5 Stars Genre: Media tie-in Pages: 238 Synopsis: Sam and Dean are played by Abaddon, sent into the past and used to try to wipe out some End Game Strategy God had setup to defeat Satan in the final battle. My Thoughts: Poorly done and poorly thought out, even for a Supernatural event. Anyone who reads ANY Biblical text knows Abaddon is a badguy, period. Stupid Winchesters. A list of bloodlines outlining who the vessels of the angels will be in the last battle is the Big Secret? That is not a strategy, that is a weakness to hide. It is NOT a prophecy that deserves to be in a "War Scroll". Unless you're a writer with no ideas to work with. Then the girl from the past ends up dying alone and old in a rest home? She was a hunter through and through. She wouldn't have lived to BE old. It was mawkish, sentimental and shallow. Not sure how many more of these books there are, but I'm done with them. It just isn't worth the time to read them. "… (mais)

Takes place right after Season 5's finale and before Season 6's premiere.

Like the other books in this series, you should read it for entertainment purposes only.
There are inconsistencies within the book and the show. Such as Sam's birthday. It's May 2nd not March 2nd.

This book contains both Dean and Sam along with flashbacks to their early American family - the Campbells.
