This is a true account of a man that was who was forced out of his job by a bunch of bullies, really. It comes down to that, bullies with clout. Ron Dahly, excepted the posiiton of Excective Director of a non-profit assisted living home for the the disabled. It wasn't a retirement home, it was for young people who had a chance of being able to live on their own or with someone else with the right training. The clients were all wheel charied bound with various disabilities. Mr. Dahly had developed programs he thought that would be very benficial for them to socialize, recieve training and also keep them being being locked in their room for 24 hours a day.
The director he replaced was one of the founders of the organization and she was also on the board so he had an up hill battle on his hand. She had a son that was living there as well, plus deep rooted connections to just about everyone that Mr. Dahly needed to help run the non-profit smoothly. She slapped road bocks the whole way.
This is so true of the "Good ole boy" attituded that we receive in south. I've heard of other people who have had to fight the so called system to get anythng done and if you have someone poisen your name you are in trouble.
Mr. Dahly's is a hero, I felt so bad for everthing he had to through and what he had to swallow to just keep his sanity. This is very well written and does read like a novel, as well as a love story.
