I don't know how to feel about this one. The art style I absolutely adored. It looked great, and the character designs looked wonderful too. The action scenes, and trust me there were plenty, were wonderfully done. The plot, however... felt way too rushed. I feel like I watched a movie on fast forward with how quickly it went by. There were several scenes that I think were meant to be big emotional payoffs, but instead, I felt nothing. The plot gives you no time to breathe and to get to know the characters. You know some basic key facts about them, but nothing else. You don't get to have any big emotions over them because the story never lets you know them. The plot pacing was also just weird. The beginning of the novel made me think that I had somehow accidentally started reading a second volume in a series, not the first. But no, this novel just dumps you into the world with barely any information. The world itself seems like it's a very interesting one, but you barely see it. And what I did see, I didn't really understand, because it flew by so quickly. It's a pity because what little I saw of the main protagonists and the world, seemed like it had a lot of potential. There are also way too many characters shoved into only about a hundred pages worth of story. Another reason you don't really get to know any of the characters is that there are so many of them. I also really disliked the ending. That's a personal dislike however, others may like it. The last thing I'll mention is that this world gave me a lot of the same vibes that the movie Bright did. They're both urban fantasy set in the modern day, so it's understandable. But seriously, I felt like I was reading what could have been an alternative setting to Bright.… (mais)

Irish gods in a science-fiction setting - sounds interesting, and it's not bad. But it's not too exciting overall. I like Liana Kangas' style well enough, but the story is a bit shallow.

Mine!: A celebration of liberty and freedom for all benefitting Planned Parenthood features material from Neil Gaiman, Brian Azzarello, Cliff Chiang, Gail Simone, Barbara Kesel, Mark Waid, Louise Simonson, Denny O'Neil, and more, edited by Joe Corallo and Molly Jackson. The stories work to tell the history of feminism and Planned Parenthood, explain the various health services that Planned Parenthood offers, and give personal testimony about how Planned Parenthood benefits individuals, even if it's only to offer reassurance and non-judgement in a time of crisis.
The authors and artists explain how heteronormative patriarchal white evangelical Christian views harm society and individuals, where a lack of basic compassion transforms into outright bigotry. For example, Niki Smith explains how then-Governor Mike Pence created an HIV pandemic in Indiana because his put his faith before the healthcare needs of his constituents.
This book came about as a way to help Planned Parenthood and preserve not only women's rights, but basic access to healthcare in the wake of Donald Trump's election to the Presidency. For those who don't know what Planned Parenthood does and why it matters, this is a must read. For those concerned about current events, this is a reassurance that you're not alone.
