Peanut Butter and Homework Sandwiches is such a cute, fun book! I think kids of all ages would like to read this book. Poor little Martin just could not succeed with turning his homework in on time. No matter how hard he worked on it or how positive he was that he packed it in his schoolbag to bring to school, something always went wrong! Each event that happened that caused Martin to not have his homework was so cute and funny. I even found myself laughing at the book so I know the kids would love it! Martin's teacher Mr. Elliott broke his arm and was out of school for a week so Mrs. Payne was the substitute teacher. Martin learned really fast that Mrs. Payne did not accept any excuses for no homework and Martin was not happy that he had to suffer the consequences every day. Finally at last, Mr. Elliott was back and all better! Martin was so happy to see his teacher back and even Harriett the tarantula! After hearing that whoever did the best homework gets to take care of the tarantula over the weekend, Martin is so motivated to do his best homework! This is a cute book to read to students and show them how important it is to always turn your homework in on time. Most of the time, teachers do not like accepting late homework so it is always important to turn it in when it is due!… (mais)

I picked this book because it had similar illustrations from the black lagoon books. For this book, I would have students come up with their own homework. They could learn about whatever they wanted and then they would write me a few sentences about what they learned.

Summary: All Martin wants to do is go to school and see his teacher's tarantula. Instead, he sees a stranger in the classroom. His class has a substitute teacher and Martin learns he doesn't like her and all of the homework she assigns. Martin does his homework every night, but right when he is about to turn it in, turn for the worst happens and he either has no homework to give to the substitute teacher, or ripped up homework.

This book is good for younger readers who especially do not like to ever do homework. Martin does his homework but can never turn it in because it is always getting lost or destroyed. He misses recess everyday in result of this and doesn't like that his substitute teacher does this to him. Overall, it is a funny book for younger students.
