Enjoyable story. Don't think the writing in this one was as fluid as others by this author but overall story was good.

Wonderful ending to a great series. This is a great story of first loves, second chances, and forgiveness. Recommend for everyone.

Very good book. Grace came back to Spruce Lake to get the house fixed up and ready to rent before she goes back to Boston and her job as a pediatrician. She didn't expect to run into Jack and certainly didn't expect to still have feelings for him. Jack never expected to see Grace again either. I really liked both Grace and Jack. Grace had left Spruce Lake with a scholarship to a college in Boston. She didn't like leaving Jack, but he had his own plans and she was desperate to get away from her parents. Because of them she was determined to make something of herself and have the security she had never had before. While there she married a man older than herself who ended up being emotionally abusive. When she divorced him she swore she would never be dependent on a man again. I loved the way that she wanted Jack and did her best to get his attention. She initially just wanted a chance to be with him again, but soon realized that her feelings for him had never gone away. She was still determined to leave when the house was done, but Spruce Lake started to feel like home and she was torn. I loved the way that she so quickly became part of the town and how determined everyone was that she should stay.

Jack was pretty special too. He had always been the one who wanted to help people. He has done time with the Peace Corps and now uses his contracting business to help young men turn their lives around. I love how kind and caring he is. His involvement with the guys he is training is wonderful to see. That being said he has a real problem with Grace's return. He still loves her but doesn't want to get close because he fears getting his heart broken again. I liked how he couldn't stop himself and ended up with his love just getting stronger. When her secret came out he was furious and said some terrible things to her. I really liked the conclusion and how close everyone was.

I loved Jack's family and how close everyone was. The way they teased each other but were there when someone needed them was a perfect blend. I also loved the solution they came up with for the old house.

"Colorado Fireman" from C.C. Coburn offers another visit with the amazing clan featured in the "The O'Malley Men Series". What you get is even more than what you see with these fabulous folks! The O'Malley men are rowdy and rambunctious, both reticents and romanticists, and they are real, with rough edges just waiting for the right woman to smooth them out. Of course, their imperfections are part of their charm, so their special ladies learn not to smooth too much! In "Colorado Fireman", Adam O'Malley has moved back to his home town of Spruce Lake, CO, and plans to continue his career as a firefighter. Adam left home as soon as he graduated from high school, on the run from a painful personal secret that caused him to distance himself from everyone and everything that he loved. After more than a decade, and much coaxing from his mother, Adam comes home to face his family and friends. Soon after he arrives, his firefighting skills are tested when he must rescue the occupants of a burning apartment building. He saves lives, including some children and a dog belonging to the children's neighbor. The mother of the children, Carly Spencer, is young and lovely, and Adam is immediately captivated. His plans to stay detached and uninvolved are changed when his mother invites Carly and her children to stay with the O'Malleys at their ranch. Carly is the widow of a firefighter, with four young children, and facing an uncertain future. She is a massage therapist with healing hands and a gentle, intuitive nature. Adam is rude, blunt and gruff, but also shows glimpses of his tender and caring heart. With Carly's warm concern and skilled touch, Adam begins to thaw from the inside out, and he starts to think about having a normal life. He knows he has to conquer the secret he has carried for fifteen years before he can begin his life anew. Carly has had her share of tragedies, and she was not expecting to find love again, especially with someone in the dangerous profession of firefighting. Carly starts to dream of a happy future for herself and the children, unaware that an unknown threat from her past is closing in, waiting for the opportunity to claim Carly once and for all. C.C. Coburn is a highly entertaining and involving storyteller. This book opens with the compelling scene of Adam in the middle of the apartment building fire, and the intensity continues throughout the story line. There is one more book to come in this series--each O'Malley son has had his own book--and it is sure to be a terrific finale!
