Visually lovely but devoid of useful information. For instance, if one sees a statue on page 198, one might expect sourcing information in an index. No love here, just a rudimentary photo credit and then a jumble of sources with no links to individual pictures. Frustrating!
Great to see a big book of pictures that isn't a cookie-cutter photo spread of house and home magazines. Original homes, original photos, original styles. Great for seeing the possibilities and getting to know what you like yourself.
Covering the period from late seventeenth century Versailles to 1920s Art Deco, this book showcases designs chosen for their ingenuity and beauty.
