Pequena biografia
Ida Chittum was born in North Canton, Ohio. She was educated in a one-room schoolhouse through the eighth grade, and was a passionate reader. She was later instrumental in bringing a library to her longtime home in the small town of Findlay, Illinois.

She and her family lived in various places in the USA and Panama, but her heart remained in the Ozarks where she spent her childhood.

By her telling, she took up writing as a profession when she received the check for her first published story, "Willy's Money," from Highlights magazine. She wrote numerous children's books, including the collection Tales of Terror (1975). She received an award in recognition for her outstanding contribution to children's literature from Central Missouri State University.

She was also a popular speaker with the many schoolchildren she visited along with her talking mynah, Poo Bah.

Resenhas

This was a very quick (couple hours) and efficient (really, I have never seen a book be so concise O_o), but very enjoyable read. It had a sense of humor, but was also pretty creepy at times for something that is young-adult oriented. It was tempered with logic to show how even the scariest of things are not always what they appear to be. My favorite was Allen's friend Gary and his off-the-cuff remarks about their situation.

First line:
The cat’s pajamas started out as a big piece of red cloth with white flowers

This story about Fred and his attempts to make his cat a pair of pajamas would capture the attention of any 4-8 year old. I know that my two sons enjoyed both reading it themselves and having me read it to them. The illustrations are very cute and since Fred’s cat refuses to wear the pajamas he comes up with a very creative use for the pj’s at the end of the story.
