Yes, it's out of date - but the interesting thing about looking at out-of-date encyclopedias, especially medical-type ones - y9uy can see what's changed, what hasn't. And THAT gives a good guide-line of what you are being told today (whenever today might be) that will be tomorrow's fallacy.
After all, they've decided that leaches and maggots are actually GOOD for you rather than being pure quakery.
