It was the synopsis for Disciplined by the Duke that caught my eye, even though I had read books with the simular storyline many times, the hint that it maybe a little more risque, had me wanting to read it, and while I did enjoy the book, in my opinion, it didn't live up to its promise.

From the beginning of the book, it felt like we jumped into the middle of the story, we didn't meet Elizabeth's sister until near the end. I just felt that if we could have had more back story in the beginning, the book would have flowed better.

With that being said, I did enjoy the character's, Elizabeth is definitely a relatable character, and you do feel her plight. Marcus is a not so stuffy Duke, with the love of using the F-bomb, way too much, and I loved his cast of friends! I just wish we had seen more of them. I had also wished this book had a little more of the risque side to it, but I think the amount of sex in this book with satisfy almost everyone.

As I said in the beginning, this book is very good, and the author did a very nice job, which is why I give Disciplined by the Duke 3.5 stars.… (mais)

Confession time--I didn't examine the blurb for this one all too well before signing up to read it (the title and series name got me, I admit it), so the part of the plot that dealt with Liz determined to do pretty much anything to save her sister from prison and Marcus's side business of espionage came as a bit of a surprise. A pleasant surprise, though, because let's face it, when you're reading BDSM with your teenage kids just feet away from you, it sometimes feels a bit awkward. The other plot elements, therefore, were a nice distraction, and made both Liz and Marcus more sympathetic and relatable than they might have seemed otherwise.

Disciplined by the Duke is a decent debut that combines historical romance, intrigue (spies have been my weakness since pretty much forever...), and light BDSM--though there were a few things here that gave me pause, Ms. Chase definitely has my attention for the next book in the series, which will feature Liz's sister and another of Marcus's friends and fellow spies.
