I Used to be Famous is a sweet book about a girl who gains a little sister and has to learn how to share the attention. While the story was sweet, I was expecting more from it. The parents weren't included as characters and there was no dialogue or character relationship depicted in the text. It was all introspective. Overall, it was sweet, but not one I would use often.

Shark Nate - O just taught me that there is a shark that can use it’s fun to walk on land, so either evolution is moving fast, or I need to run faster. This book is really fun. Nate loves sharks and while he likes to play at being a shark. But the only real way to be a shark is to swim. So swimming lessons it is. This book is great for anyone endeavoring to take swimming lesson, who might be a little afraid of the water. Don’t worry, this book will help make it okay to go back in the water.

A talented performer who is stalked by the paparazzi, young Kiely reflects on the pleasures and pain of being famous. Everywhere she goes photographers are waiting, hoping to capture her doing something cute. It's just the way it is, when you're in the spotlight. But when Kiely bombs at a big performance, will her fans remain true...?

A sweet picture-book about a little girl who is the apple of her parents' and grandparents' eye, I Am Famous recasts a loving family story in celebrity terms. The 'paparazzi' here are really Kiely's parents, the 'big show' her performance at her grandfather's birthday party, and the 'fans' (who applaud her despite her failures) are her loving family. The text is amusing, and the artwork cute. Recommended to anyone looking for picture-books about feisty girls with a penchant for performance, who, despite being the sometime diva, are also goodhearted and quite human.… (mais)
