Pequena biografia
Gordon Vero Carey was educated at Caius College, Cambridge (1909–11). He taught at his old school, Eastbourne College, after graduating. From 1913 to 1922 he was Assistant Secretary of Cambridge Univer- sity Press, and its Education Secretary until 1929. He became a Fellow of Clare (1919–25). While at CUP he worked as editor, proofreader and indexer. Carey returned to teaching as Headmaster of Eastbourne College in 1929, then served with distinction in World War II. After demobilization he worked freelance, for Heinemann and Windmill Press, as proofreader and indexer. Carey was a founder member of the Society of Indexers, in 1957, and was elected its first President, from 1962 to 1966.

Resenhas

Entertaining, informative, and well-laid out. Comparable to such books as Lapsing Into a Comma. Likely to be useful for years to come.

A little old and a little British, still a fun look at punctuation. Thanks to Lynne Truss for the rec.

Interesting for an American, as it written to help British writers change American English to British instead of vice versa
