Slowly the book is being read because I keep it in a bathroom and make a few moments to read a page, a couple paragraphs. It's surprising how that adds up. This book has good ideas/suggestions but it's written in a wordy manner. It probably could have been a forth the size it is and more readable. I'll get through it.
I finished the book in the just manner described above, which is actually very good for a book like this one. I absorbed more of it slowly. If you're an older adult, you probably already know some of the things in the book from life experience, but there's something here for most everyone. It's good to be reminded of ways we can be better to each other and pass on something worthwhile to our children and grandchildren. Leave the world a better place and lead by example -- those are the main themes and there's plenty of good advice here and thoughtful pathways.
Chapters are short. I liked the one near the end entitled, What We Can't Take With Us. We know these things and maybe we've had experiences that bring this home, maybe we haven't. The theme of this chapter is one we need to live by as we age. American culture is so opposite to this and we're one of the few cultures in the world that doesn't seem to value the wisdom of our elders. That needs to change, for all of us.
