Lucy Rebecca Buck

This is an excellent book for those interested in civilian life during the American Civil War. Lucy Buck was the daughter of a privileged family living near Front Royal, VA. The position of both her home and the social position of her father brought some of the key players in the Virginia theater of war literally to her doorstep and soldiers in their yard.
While perhaps not as exciting or detailed as Sarah Morgan's diary from LA, (few wartime diaries are IMO) it is still well worth reading for its clear insight to the daily life of a young woman of the gentry in Virginia.… (mais)
