I didn't find the romance aspect of the story appealing.

The Edge of Trust was an okay book, but I expected a lot more. As the story moved along,l didn't know who to trust anymore; Dillon's mission was to infiltrate the cartel by gaining the trust of the family leader, Rafeal. He eventually gets in and is assigned to provide security for the leader's family. Initially, he was to spend only 1 year undercover, but spent three years instead - getting close to his boss' daughter and wife this time. There is also no explanation as to why his stint lasted so long. All this time, his real wife, Sara, is alone and kept in the dark about what he is doing..

Tragically, Rafeal's wife and daughter are killed in a car bombing that deeply affects Dillon because of the relationship he had with them. After all, it was his job to protect them. Then, somebody leaks Dillon's real identity and mission to Rafeal. The ruthless cartel retaliates, killing Dillon's wife, sister and mother. The story picks up a year later. Dillon's dreams are filled with memories of his past wife, which seem to wear him down. I got confused by going back and forth in time and following conversations between the various characters in this ride through time.

Suddenly, Dillon's wife, who was thought to be dead for the last year, washes up alive on the beach near his home. Most of the higher brass in the agency knew she was alive, yet nobody told Dillon - making me wonder who to trust going forward.

During the rest of the book, Dillon and Sara continue to bicker and question one another's feelings and integrity. Heck, she even insisted that he closed his eyes while she changed for the night and then slept alone. I would have expected a ravishing night instead. They were married, yet behaved like seven graders on a field trip, which annoyed me. Don't get me wrong, the book is also filled with edge of your seat suspense that will keep readers riveted and engaged, but it seems like these discussions become "filler" in between.

Dillon and Sara travel to Colombia in search of Rafeal and his brothers with revenge in mind. Little did they know, Rafeal's deep jungle fortress is protected by the latest security technology - infrared scanners, video, heat sensors, etc. and they are quickly captured. The bickering and feelings for one another continue to be debated...will they finally come to terms? Will they escape and be successful in Dillon's personal quest to destroy the family? Who will survive?

If you like romance (?) mixed in with action scenes, ruthlessness and killing, then this book is for you.

I really wanted to like this book more than i actually did. It has all the elements of a good book, a good series, but i just didn't connect with it. It took me over 50% of the way in to care about the charcters and even then, i had to force myself to finish it because i wanted to slap the main characters most of the time! This was just an ok book - not good, not bad, IMO, just ok.
