Lucien Brault (1904–1987)

(This is a history of Ottawa, Canada). Written in 1946, this is a standard type city history of the time, with topical chapters rather than a strictly chronological treatment. Much of the information is offered to give the contemporary reader an overview of then-current conditions of politics, services, economy, religious institutions, etc, but the information on the city's history is full of quotes from accounts and documents of the period, and they give a wonderful sense of the time.
