This was an absolute favorite book when I was young. My grade school library had a copy and I checked it out over and over and over. I had no idea it was written by the same author as another childhood favorite - Doodlebug. I was thrilled to find this on goodreads. Now hopefully I can track down a copy for my library. :)

A young girl finds that the injured, disheveled pony that she buys out of pity at an auction is really the black stallion of her dreams.

One of the books I remember fondly from childhood; I wanted to draw horses this well.
