About the Author
Patricia Bosworth is a contributing editor at Vanity Fair. She has taught literary nonfiction at Columbia University and Barnard College, and is a winner of the Front Page Award. A longtime board member of the Actors Studio, she ran the Playwrights/Directors Unit there. Her first memoir, Anything mostrar mais Your Little Heart Desires: An American Family Story, was about her family and the Hollywood Blacklist. She is also the author of bestselling biographies of Montgomery Clift, Marlon Brando, Jane Fonda, and the photographer Diane Arbus. Montgomery Clift: A Biography (Limelight) de Patricia Bosworth
Bosworth's writing is pretty good. I read this book about 10 years ago and Stix is reading it for the first time. We heard Bosworth speak at BAM during the Clift series in March 2010.
What can be said about Diane Arbus that would capture what her photographs do? Nothing really. Her street photography and portraits proved she was a beacon for the people on the outskirts and she was WAY ahead of her time. This bio is an intimate detailed account of her too short life in all of its intensity and daring. If you haven't heard of her and like disarming and sometimes grotesque photography, I encourage you to check her out. As a long time fan, I can say this bio put her art in perspective for me.… (mais)
Excellent biography of actor Montgomery Clift which contained a lot of interviews with friends, co-stars and family members as well as listings of plays and films in which he appeared. Highly recommended.
I've always liked him, and I knew he was troubled. However, I didn't believe just how much and how deep it ran until this book. It's an amazing, amazing read!
