I'm not sure what to say about this story/book. The authors writing style is a bit flamboyany, wordy, overly descriptive, and page filling. But burried under all of that is a pretty good story, good humor, and some great one liners. The sex was hot when I think they were having it , or in the "dream" sequesnces. I did hate the fact that Connol kept leaving Ash and we never really knew why - if there was an explaination (other then their mating ritual as a reason) I must have missed it. I found the memory/dream sequences of both Ash & Connol to be a bit confusing, maybe if they were integrated a little differently, the info in them would be easier to work into my brain at least (not sure about other readers thoughts on this). This was not an easy read or a quick read for me, I felt like I had to work at it - to remember all the players names and who they belonged to in the story (good guys , bad guys or other), the tidbits about the "mythology" used in the story, the gaelic names thrown in here & there, and the change POV's. I did enjoy the humor in the nick names Little Red and Big Bad.

After looking at the authors website and reading the glossary, some things made a bit more sense - even with the spoilers included. I did notice that there was a glossary included in the book, but hadn't noticed until I had finished it

I told myself that I wasn't going to follow the series due to the writing style, but the way the author ended the story I may have to read the next book just to see what happens to Ash and Connol, and if the old lady (Ash's grandmother) come back into the story. The follow on book will not have a high priority on my books I want to read list but if the time and the book price is right I might get it

So this is one of those series that I wish I had not started reading until ALL of the books had been released... because now I have to wait for the next book! I hope its coming soon. I like the world that Jess and Paul have built in Ireland. It reminds me a bit of the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. And there is no shortage of hunky males between Conall and MacTire. I also love the book covers - but I am not sure how they relate to the story as it doesn't mention Ash having facial markings. I recommend this book to fans of urban fantasy and stories of the fae.… (mais)
