Never Fall Again is the first book in the Gossamer Falls series by Lynn H. Blackburn. This is a well written, fun and easy to read story that is filled with action, suspense, mystery and touches of romance. This story caught my attention right from the start and held it to the very end, and left me wishing for more. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I enjoyed reading of the history behind the families in Gossamer Falls and the way the younger members of the families feel about the long held feelings between the families. This story lightly touches on sensitive subjects as Laundry reveals the history with her late husband, her fear of his family and the obsession of the person behind the happenings at The Haven. This is a wonderful story of second chances for both Laundry and Cal. It also shows how caring and helpful the Shaw family is with welcoming others into their family.

I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this story, this is my honest review.

This was a fun mysterious heartfelt, family novel. Landry has worked hard to start over after her husband's death and a series of odd events starts putting everything she has worked for at risk. Working to give her daughter everything and to do things on her own, to be self sufficient and to have a career has been hard but she has done it. She swore she would never rely on a man again, and she has just about reached the full dream when she has house plans drawn up but when a fire breaks out and destroys all of her product she is going to have to put those plans on hold. But something doesn't seem right, and as more crimes happen the Shaw family steps in to help Landry and her daughter while the investigation heats up. Really trying to do everything on her own, Landry realizes that it is ok to have others help, and sometimes a little help is all you need to achieve your dreams. I really enjoyed this storyline and all of the characters. Even though there were a lot, it was easy to keep them all straight and I loved the little family tree in the front of the book. I really enjoyed McKenzie charactery as well. Thank you to the author and Revell Fiction Blogger program for the complementary novel. This review is of my own opinion and accord.… (mais)

Under Fire was the perfect ending to the Defend and Protect series by Lynn Blackburn. I was so excited to get Zane and Tessa's story and I was not disappointed. The author did a great job taking two broken people and created a beautiful and realistic romance. I loved the fast-paced story complete with nail-biting suspense. You could definitely read this as a standalone, but the whole series was fantastic. So, I would highly recommend reading the whole series.

Thank you to the publisher and LibraryThing for a copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.… (mais)

What a great start to a new series by Lynn H. Blackburn! Never Fall Again had a little bit of everything, romance, humor, suspense, faith, and a whole bunch of endearing characters. It’s set in Gossamer Falls, North Carolina, a small resort town popular among celebrities that could be a piece of heaven, except for the underlying family feuds. Landry Hutton has just moved here with her small daughter Eliza hoping for a new start after her abusive husband’s death. As a talented potter at the Haven, an exclusive resort on the outskirts of town, she’s managed to save enough money to build a home and hires one of the town’s favorite sons and former marine Cal Shaw to manage the construction. Someone though doesn’t want her to put down permanent roots. Could it be her former husband’s family, neighboring property owners, or someone else?

This book surprised me in a good way. I found myself fully drawn in to this small town with all the engaging, quirky residents and underlying tensions. I loved Cal’s grandma, Mo, Bronwyn, and Cal’s darling golden retriever Maisy. There’re a lot of people to keep track of at first, but I found things became clearer as the story progressed. Someone mentioned having a family tree at the beginning and I think that would be amazing, just to keep everyone straight.

Loved Cal and Landry! Both have past hurts making them leery of a relationship. I loved their slow burn romance and how it grew through shared experiences and service. Cal has a funny sense of humor and I loved seeing that throughout. Landry tends to get flustered around him and produces funny word salads as a result. Though attracted to him, she’s understandably hesitant and wants to put her daughter first. I loved Cal’s genuine kindness and how he and his family completely took Landry and Eliza in and made them feel instantly cared for.

The suspense is a slow burn mystery that really ratchets up at the end. I liked that the author took the time to lay the foundation of the series giving more insight into characters and family dynamics instead of just non-stop action. There’re instances of sabotage of Landry’s work and livelihood which build to an exciting, nail-biting conclusion. The suspect was a bit of a surprise with a few red herrings along the way. I also appreciated how faith was deftly woven in throughout the story.

Definitely recommend this to romantic suspense fans! Looking forward to the next book in the series! I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author and publisher. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.
