When I came across this, I just knew I had to read it. I love Scarry's books, but knew nothing about the man behind them....

Like so many other children, I learned to read with one of Richard Scarry's books. And I used it to read to my sister, and teach her to read her first words.
In the years after that, I used that same book with pretty much all of my babysit kids, and my nephews and nieces.

Whilst this mini-biography is far from complete, it gives a quick summary of the man's work and life. To be honest, it reads more like an article in a magazine, but then again, there's only so much you can say in 32 pages (some of which are taken up by photo's and illustrations).

So, all in all, a decent book, not mind-blowing but it deliverd what was promised. Also suitable to be read by kids.

E. B. White started writing in high school and wrote for many news sources and journals, including The New Yorker and Harper's magazine. He is most famous for writing Stuart Little, Charlotte's Web, and The Trumpet of the Swan, as well as The Elements of Style.

This book, which spans most of the important events in White's life, is written in a large type. There is a lot of white space on each page, which makes it not seems overwhelming to a young reader. There are photographs of E.B. White every couple of pages. There is a table of contents. This book is written like an essay; there are headings for each different topic written about.
