The lightest and fluffiest of books. Set in a hot summer in New York City, it's a fine way to spend a few days of reading in the hot summer anywhere. Don't look for deep insight - it's not that kind of book. It's a popsicle; enjoy!

Original, timely, mysterious and witty, A Dangerous Age is a poignant look into four socialites of a certain, middle-ish age living in New York. Told through the voice of Lucy, a is funny, lonely and sophisticated model turned journalist, who is trying to hold her marriage and sense of self together in what seems to be an impossible situation. Lucy's relationships with her quirky best friends is the basis of the plot, but there are twists, turns, and mysteries within the larger plot that weave the entire tapestry of the story together.
The supporting characters are detailed, rich and varied, and I walked away feeling as if I knew them, or wanted to have them as a neighbor or acquaintance myself.
I didn't want to put this one down, and when I did, I wondered what would happen next with these ladies, and couldn't wait to join their lives again. Brava to Bensimon for such a refreshing novel!

I received a copy from NetGalley for an honest review. I was so excited to read this book as the plot was very interesting about four women in NYC. However, after the first few chapters, it became extremely boring. Each chapter was pretty much the same thing over and over again. I really wanted to like it but alas I didn't.
