started off good but then the whole thing revolved around their marriage being continually sabotaged by the matriarchal grandmother who wanted the heroine to have the baby and then sell him to them and leave and people from the Ozarks in Missouri being total hicks and poorly spoken hayseeds. Yuck.
This was one of my first romance novels, and I've read it so many times I've actually lost count. If you're looking for a gripping love story, I would recommend giving this one a try. It's high in drama and adventure, in a swashbuckling, fantastical sort of way. It really is a rollercoaster of two people meeting under extraordinary circumstances, falling in love over time, and struggling to achieve that happily-ever-after. It's the kind of love story that will make you smile, make you sigh, maybe even make you shed some tears. All in all, it's a fun way to spend a few hours.… (mais)
