Glen St. John Barclay

An interesting look at Sheridan Le Fanu, Bram Stoker, H.P. Lovecraft, H.R. Haggard, Dennis Wheatly, William Blatty. Fairly interesting view of how supernatural fiction can serve to present a mystic worldview. The chapter on Lovecraft is really weak, full of misreadings and factual errors compounded by the author's unwillingness to consider that Lovecraft's mythos can have meaning even if the author doesn't believe in it as literal truth. (The latter may be due to the St. John Barclay's Platonism.)… (mais)
