Cordon is really like your typical guy that you would hang out with as friends. He never really asked to be a hero, but it turned into one. That is what makes him so relatable. Cordon is not "perfect", unless you call him a "perfectly" broken soul. Someone that I grew emotionally attached to as a character.

For what Cordon went through as a child, this case was very personal to him. His connection to Lucious was kind. I liked how they interacted with each other. I do want to take a moment to mention Gio. He brought the humor to this dark, violent, and bloody story. Yes, there is blood spilled and cuss words used. Lastly, the moments between Cordon and his sister, Annie were sweet.

I will leave you with this quote from Cordon:
"His greatest, unspoken fear is, he never will be the man he wishes he was."… (mais)

I can't say that I loved this book, but I can't say that I hated it either, so I must conclude that this was a mediocre read for me. I found the plot extremely predictable and the main character far too bitter and angry to be believable once true love slaps him in the face. The falling in love portion of the book also took place much too fast for me to get caught up in the possibility that it was actually happening. Considering that you need to believe the main character's emotions and reactions in order to go on the journey with him through the book, I'm not certain how I can give the writing even that much credit. I do give points for moments of writing creativity and I can easily see how this will translate onto the big screen. Still, it wasn't something I will remember for very long or can say touched me in any kind of way. I read it, I finished it, I picked up another book afterwards. No regrets, but no lasting memories either.… (mais)
