Josephine Margaret Bagot (1889–1946)

Josephine Margaret Bagot, neé Barritt, was raised in Lyndoch, Australia, and educated at private schools for girls in Adelaide. She began writing at a young age, but her stories were rejected by publishers. In 1908, at age 19, she married Walter Hervey Bagot, a prominent architect, with whom she had three children. She continued to write for her own satisfaction and kept a diary. After her death at age 55, her husband collected some of her writings for private circulation.
