I had never read a book from Lynnette Austin until this one. A neighbor gave me the book and I loved it. The characters were normal people that had issues due to circumstances in their life that had affected them for a long time. The romance between Moll and Brandt did not happen immediately so it was refreshing to have it develop in time instead of the stories out there now when it is an immediate connection then straight to porn. The baby Jax was delightful. I will be heading to Amazon right now to see what other books I can find in this series and for the friends mentioned in this story that have fiound their happily ever after.… (mais)

Every Bride Has Her Day is a leisurely paced, heartwarming romance. This second installment Lynnette Austin’s warm and inviting Magnolia Brides series can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend the entire series.

Needing a place to recover both physically and mentally from an undercover case that went horribly wrong, NYC detective Sam DeLuca heads to Misty Bottoms, GA, where he once spent several memorable summers with his late great-aunt Gertie. After two years, Sam decides it is time to take care of his neglected inheritance so he immerses himself in fixing up the sadly neglected house he inherited from Gertie. Besieged by nightmares from his last case, he is easily distracted by his beautiful, sassy neighbor Cricket O’Malley, but knowing he is only passing through town, the two try to ignore the sparks that fly between them. Despite the roots he seems to putting down, Sam still intends to return to the life he left behind but will those plans change once he and Cricket give in to their sizzling hot desire?

With his confidence shaken and unable to trust his judgment, Sam is hoping getting away from New York will help him put his last case behind him once and for all. He is unprepared for the guilt he experiences when confronted with the neglected house awaiting him but he is grateful for the distraction the renovations provide him. He is also surprised by how much he much he looks forward to spending time with Cricket but he fights his growing attraction due to the betrayal he experienced in his last relationship. Enjoying the slower pace of life, Sam is gradually drawn into small town life as he strikes up new friendships, adopts a stray dog and offers a helping hand to a troubled teen.

Cricket is also a newcomer to town but unlike Sam, she is staying in Misty Bottoms permanently. On the verge of opening her florist shop, she is incredibly busy but she still finds time to help her grumpy (and super sexy) new neighbor acclimate to small town life. Knowing Sam is only in town temporarily, she pushes aside her growing attraction to him and they spend several enjoyable evenings together. Once Sam begins to confide his troubles to her, Cricket has trouble maintaining an emotional distance from him.

The relationship between Cricket and Sam is a little antagonistic at first, but they soon settle into an easy friendship. Between their quiet evenings together and fun outings, they spend a great deal of time in each other’s company. Sam’s reticence to talk about why he is town initially causes some tension between them, but he is uncharacteristically talkative when he is with Cricket. Underscoring all of their interactions is a simmering attraction that becomes impossible to ignore but will this change in their relationship convince Sam to alter his plans to leave Foggy Bottoms?

With a quirky cast of appealing characters and a charming setting, Every Bride Has Her Day is a sweet romance that is blissfully free from excessive angst or drama. Lynnette Austin brings Foggy Bottoms vibrantly to life and fans of small town love stories are sure to be captivated by both the town and its residents. Tantalizing glimpses of Cricket’s cousin and his ex will leave readers impatiently awaiting the next installment in the Magnolia Brides series.

Picture Perfect Wedding by Lynnette Austin is a delightfully heartwarming second chance at love romance. Although this latest release is the third installment in the marvelous Magnolia Brides series, it can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend the previous novels as well.

Following her divorce, Tansy Calhoun Forbes moves back to her small hometown of Misty Bottoms, GA with her four year old daughter, Gracie. Her homecoming is bittersweet as she reconnects with old friends and tries to avoid her former fiancé, Beck Elliot, whose heart she broke when she suddenly married her now ex-husband. A little battered by her unhappy marriage but relieved to put this chapter of her life behind her, Tansy is looking forward to opening a bakery but the only building that suits her needs is chock full of memories of her teenage romance with Beck. Knowing this is her chance to make a better life for herself and Gracie, she goes forward with her plans to purchase Beck's grandparents' house despite his unhappiness with her decision. Tansy's plans to keep her distance from Beck are thwarted by some well-meaning matchmaking and the renovations she needs for her new business and home. Will spending time with Beck heal the wounds from their past? Or will Tansy find herself heartbroken by his inability to forgive her for her mistakes?

Beck is a genuinely kind-hearted and helpful man but he is still quite hurt and angry over Tansy's marriage to another man. While he has dated plenty of women since their painful break up, none of his relationship lasted beyond a few dates. Tansy's return stirs up painful memories of their past and Beck's lingering resentment spills over every time their paths cross. After his beloved grandfather gives him some helpful advice after sharing a surprising memory from his past, Beck begins wondering if he should give Tansy a second chance. Before he can seriously entertain the idea, he knows he will have to come to terms with her betrayal, but will rehashing the past help or harm their fragile truce?

Tansy and Beck's interactions are fraught with tension after her return to Misty Bottoms. While it was easy for them to avoid each other during her visits over the years, they are constantly thrown together as she settles into her new life. It soon becomes apparent there is some well-meaning matchmaking going on, but neither of them are receptive to these efforts. Beck's hurt and anger are understandable but his animosity soon wears thins as he resists Tansy's efforts to smooth things over. Initially she does not help the situation between them since she does not want the truth about her marriage or divorce to come out. When Tansy sees how attached Gracie is becoming to Beck, she is rightfully concerned that her daughter might get hurt if she gives him a second chance and things do not work out between them. But as Tansy and Beck spend more time together, their simmering attraction becomes too powerful to resist. However, if they have any chance at lasting happiness, Beck will have to make peace with their past. Will Beck set aside his bitterness long enough to learn the truth about why Tansy married another man?

With plenty of small-town charm, an adorable little girl and a passionate romance, Picture Perfect Wedding is a splendid addition to Lynnette Austin's wonderful Magnolia Brides series. Tansy and Beck are vibrantly developed characters whose pain and regret over their painful past is palpable. Both are quite cautious about resuming their relationship which results in a delicate push/pull of emotions as they try to avoid tempestuous topics that could destroy their fledgling romance. This sweet second chance at love romance has a meaningful storyline and a fantastic cast of alluring characters that will appeal to readers who enjoy contemporary romances.
