- The creator in the 1970s of chicken tikka masala, consistently one of the most popular restaurant meals in the UK. In an interview with the AFP news agency, Aslam said he created chicken tikka masala at his Shish Mahal restaurant in Glasgow when a customer asked if there was a way of making his chicken tikka less dry. His solution was to add a creamy tomato sauce.
