I liked Anarchy of the Gods I so much that I started reading Part II just hours after the first one. The beginning of the book was engrossing just like the first book. However, as the story proceeded, I found myself to be tired of the story. I wish I knew what the story was trying to get at. I was tired of Jua and Leviathan's drama. It was endless. I missed Othios's mischievous acts. It was also inconsistent to see one god's power increased over another... At first, it was the Jua's who was so powerful.. and then, it was Eros. Before we knew it, it was Bret. It was like a mockery of the power. Anyone could have great powers. Just let them go through some heartbreak dramas and they would be strong and feared gods. Sheesh.. That killed the storyline.. if it were not for the tiresome Eros-Jua-Leviathan story.

Just when the great battle was supposed to start, where great battle was expected to be seen, Eros died and just like any character before him, they did not stay dead for long. Weird stuff. If it was not bad enough, there was again Jua-Leviathan's boring storyline again.

There is supposed to be a Part III. I don't think I am looking forward to it now, as much as Part II. Part II killed my curiosity.

P/s: Thank goodness there was no more iPhone mention.

Not many books are able to will me away from my other chores. I like reading but I am not able to sit long to read one, unless that book is addictive. And yes, Anarchy of the Gods was addictive.

I gave it 4 stars because it was addictive. There was something about the plots that kept me curious and wanting for more. However, I have to admit that it was not an easy book to follow. There were many characters in the book, but unlike Larry Kramer's Faggot, I was happy that I did not find myself lost in following the important ones. I completely lost interest and focus when the book was elaborating life in the mortal worlds, with Jua and others, living their lives as Earthlings. I thought it was the weakest plot of the book. Even the mere mention of iPhone did not seem to go well with the rest of the stories. I was more looking forward to more drama between the gods and was asking myself why I was following the silly story of Leviathan reading Jua's thoughts...

No one seemed to die permanently in the book. Well, maybe someone did but I do not seem to recall one. Almost all who had died, was reborn.

Oh yeah.. the plots. I liked the idea that there was any possibility how the story could just develop a new angle and then, another. And another. Although some plots were rushed through (fast paced), they were satisfying.

Well, I have stopped reading other books for a while to start on this one.. It should be a matter of hours before I pick up the continuation to see what clever plots James Ash could offer in his Part II. He has made me curious enough to start on the second book soon.
