This book, which was originally published in the Philippines, is about a grasshopper named Peles. A hardworking ant decides to entrust Peles to tend his tomato garden. Every day, Peles takes care of the tomatoes. As Peles tends the tomatoes, he learns the value of hard work. At the end of the story, he admires how the big the tomatoes have grown under his care.

This book is appropriate for preschoolers. They will enjoy the illustrations, which are in bright and bold colors. Through this story, young children learn the lesson that hard work pays off. Peles’ Tomato can also be used to teach the days of the week. There is even a section in the book where children can practice how to write each day.
