A small backstory:
Philip Solomon, a horror author, is pulled into a criminal investigation by the Sheriff as it seems that the books he has written in the past are coming to life with some killings in the town of Hell, Missouri, but when the Sheriff goes missing along with other citizens, Philip has to figure out what to do on his own and he has to resort to his books for answers.
Thoughts:
This book started out great with some gore action, but then after the first couple of chapters things went downhill. The story is told in first person and almost a whole chapter is dedicated to the character Philip's autobiography of his author career. I could never connect with the character, Philip and the story just fell apart the more I delved deeper into the book.
The story would have been better if there had been more blood and gore, but there just wasn't enough there to hold my interest. I came close a couple of times with a "dnf" on it, but I kept thinking it would get better. There was a surprise twist at the end, but it is not enough to keep me wanting to read this series. Giving this story two "disappointing" stars.… (mais)
