He is a zealous birder and has identified more than 3,300 species in nineteen different countries. Stunning Bird illustrations, minute detail. Each page gives, song, flight pattern, Nest identification, Range Map, Similar birds. Though I would hardly call it a "handbook" due to the weight.

Exceptional book with many details on bird features and loss of habitat.

It would be welcome if this was reissued: publication in 2001 leaves Conservation and Population outdated.

It would also be great if the book opened flat, maybe ring bound?

Some descriptions could be lived up: "Grey" instead of "drab."

So completely compact ,concise, and beautiful photos! The index and checklist provided is a great tool for bird identification!
