A ‘Novel in Small Moments’, each short, free verse chapter is about challenges of middle school and life when you are in sixth grade. Izzy tells us about the lunchroom, spin the bottle, dancing with the most annoying boy in Social Studies, growing apart from friends, and dealing with your family in a quirky and believable way. Topics such as divorce, bullying and LGBTQ issues are handled matter-of-factly and are just part of the whole story. Fans of realistic fiction will love this easy to read book. I would recommend to girls or boys 4th through 7th grade.

It's a new school year, and Izzy Kline is having some feelings. There are plenty of reasons for the butterflies in her stomach to flap their wings. There’s a new girl in her class who might be a new best friend. The whole grade is performing Free to Be . . . You and Me—and Izzy really wants a starring role. And new changes at home are making Izzy feel like her family is falling apart. First-day jitters, new friends, an audition . . . How many butterfly problems can one kid take?

Fantastic new series. Jules love life! She is a seven year old with a lot of zest, energy, and pizzazz! Jules loves fun words, keeping lists, and working on her fizzy ice-cream jingle. Move over Judy Moody, and Junie B. Jules is a real treat! -ER

This is such a cute read. It reminds me a lot of my daughter, and I know she will enjoy this series, not only now but later. I love the fact that Jules keeps lists, as even being an adult I keep lists too. I thought this was normal? No?
Starring Jules reminds me of Junie B with a mix of Fancy Nancy. I absolutely adore it.
I loved it when Beth wrote out how the new student sounds with her accent, brilliant! I can not wait for the rest of this series, I mean, who could totally pass up on a sparking, dancy, imagination little girl? Jules even learns words like: pizzazz, snazzy, and improvise. I love adding vocabulary to my daughter’s world, and with this book it is easily done!… (mais)
