This is the story of Pocahontas and her people. Her father, Chief Powhaton, wants her to marry Kocoum, but he does not like to explore and she’s had a dream that she believes is pointing her in a different direction.

What should she do? And what will happen when Pocahontas meets John Smith?

=========

Summary:
A girl lived with her stepmother and her two evil stepsisters. The stepmother and two evil stepsisters were very mean to Cinderella and made her work very hard at doing their chores. One day the prince had a ball to try and choose a wife but the stepmother tried her best to keep Cinderella away from the ball. This is where Cinderella's Fairy Godmother stepped in and made it to where Cinderella could go to the ball and meet the Prince.

Personal Reaction:
I love this timeless story because just about every girl I know has their idea of a fairy tale and meeting her prince and living happily ever after. This story has a little bit of everything: drama, people being mean to other people, and meeting someone you usually only dream about. There are times as a little girl I dreamed about my fairy Godmother stepping in and helping me do something that would take me away and to my Prince Charming. And, of course, who does not like a truly happy ending.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. I would use this to teach my students that it is ok to dream and dream big. No matter what situation they might be in at the time, with enough work, grit, and some imagination they can overcome their situation and make it through.

2. I would also use this book to teach my students that hard work always pays off in the end. The payoff might not be Prince Charming coming to take them away, but no matter what, if they work hard and try their best in everything they do they will be rewarded beyond their wildest dreams.
