This book was amazing. I only rated it four stars because a few passages were confusing in the beginning and the beginning dragged a bit with too many therapy scenes. But after 15% of the way in, things picked up and started making sense. I breezed through the rest of the novel and LOVED it! I don't read a whole lot of time travel stuff, but this one kept me riveted. The author's writing was smooth, so I wasn't bothered by poor grammar or awkward sentences. I loved the dynamics between the two main characters, Alice and Pete, and the banter between them.
Definitely check this one out.

Reader Rated for ages 14 due to teenager potty mouths.

Judith is the new girl at school. She's just come from an all-girls Jewish high school and doesn't fit in very well. But she makes a new friend right away and then meets a handsome older guy named Cain who recruits her for a job delivering packages. She finds out he is part of an eco-terrorist cult run by a charismatic leader named Jo-Jo, and that's when the trouble starts.
This YA story is a quick read. It is part of a proposed three-book series and ends on a cliffhanger. I'm not in the target audience, but I'm not sure how many YA readers will enjoy this story. It's written more for the parents of those YA readers with a lot of warnings about disenfranchised youth and the signs to look for.
It also contains a lot of YA tropes: it's written in first person POV, the heroine is the 'odd' girl with the funny sidekick, the hero is impossibly handsome who still 'falls in love' with the odd girl anyway, her mother is dead, they're fighting against the establishment, and so on. Judith, or Jude, is unbelievably gullible and won't listen to her father's advice while still giving a pass to Cain's obedience to his father figure, Jo-Jo.
It's very well-written and I did enjoy the book. My issues with it have more to do with my own personal reading preferences right now.

Ancient Super heroes!

One simple game of a Ouija board ... spelling out M...A...L...C...H...U...S and it draws your attention in. And then he takes over young Hal. Wow! A well-written YA story that if I didn't pay attention to the genre category, I would've thought it was just another great paranormal book. Totally for the mature reader but also perfect for young adults. I don't think it should've had a "Young" limit, but maybe "young at heart" because this was a great read. I chuckled when Sheila told "Hal" that she'd let him feel her up at lunch.
Though, I am not young, I remembered being young ... i just never had a boyfriend that was possessed by someone's spirit. I became very attached to Zulu and Morgan. The battle of good versus evil just hit a new height for me. The story flowed well and the reader was able to keep up with what was in the past and in the present. I will read more of her stories and the way it was slightly open-ended means she could possibly write a sequel that I will definitely put on my TBR.
