About the Author
Chris North is a professor at Cardiff University and received his doctorate from Oxford. He is part of BBC Television's popular series The Sky at Night and works on two astronomical satellites: the European Space Agency's Herschel and Planck missions. He lives in Wales. Paul Abel is a British mostrar mais astronomer, mathematician, broadcaster, and writer. Currently, he is based in the Centre for Interdisciplinary Science in the department of Physics Astronomy at the University of Leicester where he teaches mathematics. He is a presenter for the BBC's The Sky at Night and has written for many popular astronomy magazines Dr. Brian May, founding member of Queen, has a Ph.D. in Astronomy and is the co-author of Bang! How to Read the Solar System: A Guide to the Stars… de Paul Abel
This book mentions Sir Patrick Moore in its Acknowledgement section and its Foreword. But I found a book by Sir Patrick Moore which focuses on the moon and is a bit more to my tase, and I intend to proceed w/ that instead.
I thought this was a very good book on the solar system. It is written for the general public in a very readable way. Each planet is looked at, not in detail, but in ways that explain the planet's meaning to us, and what is known about it. Highly recommended for public and school libraries, and for amateur astronomers who want a good book on their hobby for their spouses and friends to read.
