Beautiful. Devastating. Unforgettable.

I don't have words for how Kate and Bron's story affected me. I don't do tears - it's a guy thing, conditioning not pride - and I was ugly crying through the last hour of the book.

This is not a romance, but it is unabashedly romantic, and it is sweet and funny and uplifting and wonderful and I feel fortunate to have heard about it and experienced it.

There is an oft-shared Internet meme that says "this book brutally ripped out my heart and tore it to shreds then stomped it into the ground as I drowned in a sea of my tears and basked in eternal sorrow. Here read it.", a sentiment which fits this book perfectly.

I suggest you read it.

An entertaining, sweet story set in Melbourne, Australia. Of course, it's predictable, but author K.J. has added a little surprise in the last third of the book. Something happens that I didn't expect. On the whole, a lovely beach read to relax.

I'm an absolute fan of celebrity stories, so I grabbed this book immediately. Does a celebrity fall in love with an "ordinary person"? If yes, that's a big "yes" from me. ;)

One of the main characters is Abby (Abigail) Taylor, a well-known and respected actress from LA. She's in Melbourne for a film shoot and has her 9-year-old daughter Grace with her.

And then there's Sam Markson, an established, esteemed teacher at a prestigious school. And by "sheer coincidence", Abby hires Sam as Grace's private tutor for three months.

The story is, of course, absolutely cheesy and, as already mentioned, predictable. But the main characters are so wonderful and loving that you wish them nothing but the very best. And let's face it, celebrities are just ordinary people like you and me. The only difference between them and us is their bank account and public standing.

it took me a little while to get into this, and i sort of thought the romance started at a point where we hadn't really seen the two characters interact very much yet, but this had a lot of tropes and beats that really hit my buttons, so overall i had a good time! i listened to an audiobook version, and it took me a little bit to get into the narrator's voice and acting. they weren't bad by any means, but sometimes the narration (not the character's voices, i really enjoyed those, especially her "abby" voice) felt... not wooden but like it was slowed down a bit? i dont know how to explain it, but it wasn't my fav and it took me a little longer to really get into it, once i did though, i really did and i had a great time!… (mais)

“Maybe we don’t see the human side of other people until we see the human side of ourselves”

A wonderful read!

This is very much Andrea's story. She has a lot to work through in getting her life on track, so the romance alluded to in the blurb can happen. As such, she (and Michelle, her PA, who is a joy) spend most of the novel centre-stage. While this might not be conventional for a romance novel, I think it works here and I enjoyed the story KJ had to tell.

Something about this book immediately clicked for me. KJ's writing feels like my Australia, and I'm looking forward to reading more from her.… (mais)
