Once a cartoonist has more than five comic strip collections published, most readers know if they like the work. The Pearls Before Swine collection continues with the same themes as in Pastis' previous work, particularly the predator prey relationship, with the introduction of some intelligent, but lazy, lions to complement the moronic crocodiles. It's an enjoyable book, worth owning. ( )
