Year 1362.” This is the inscription on the Kensington Stone found in 1898 in Kensington, Minnesota. Is it genuine, the unique record of a forgotten expedition to America? Or is it one of the most successful hoaxes in history? Scholarship has never been able to decide, and historians, linguists, and archeologists are about evenly decided for or against its genuineness.
